September 11, 2024 – Dubbed as the “Hometown of Dolomite in Guangxi,” Wuxuan County in Guangxi Province has gained a reputation both domestically and internationally for its abundant dolomite resources and superior quality. In recent times, the county has been leveraging this unique resource advantage to vigorously develop its calcium carbonate industry, with a focus on driving high-end and intelligent development within the sector.
Located in a geographically advantageous position, Wuxuan County boasts convenient transportation conditions, benefiting from both land and water transportation. Its dolomite mining area, situated approximately 5 kilometers northwest of the county seat, holds massive reserves. According to initial exploration results, the dolomite reserves are estimated to be around 10 billion tons, accounting for 90% of Guangxi’s total reserves. The dolomite, characterized by high magnesium and low iron content, is highly suitable for use in the solar energy and photovoltaic glass industries. This has garnered high praise from Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd., the world’s second-largest glass manufacturer.
In recent years, Wuxuan County has actively responded to the autonomous region’s calcium carbonate billion-dollar industrial development plan, making efforts to build the Qianxi Calcium Carbonate Industrial Upgrading Park. Through strengthened mine integration and promoting industrial structure optimization and upgrading, the county’s calcium carbonate industry has achieved remarkable results. Currently, there are several dozen industrial enterprises above a certain size involved in the production and processing of dolomite and related products. These products include glass powders, large-scale precision aggregates, as well as deeply processed products such as coatings, canvas, and waterproof tiles.
According to information from the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Wuxuan County also places great emphasis on technological innovation and product research and development. This focus aims to enhance the added value and market competitiveness of its products. Simultaneously, the county has intensified its efforts in attracting investments, actively bringing in well-known domestic and foreign enterprises and advanced technologies to propel the calcium carbonate industry to a higher level of development. Furthermore, Wuxuan County has fully utilized local wind resources to actively develop the new energy industry and explore the fisheries-photovoltaic complementary industrial model. This approach aims to achieve efficient resource utilization and ecological environmental protection.
In the context of the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt being elevated to a national strategy, Wuxuan County, as a transportation hub in the upper reaches of the Xijiang River, faces broader development prospects.
