Qingdao Chengzhi Huaqing Launches Final Push for Flagship Polymer Project

Qingdao Chengzhi Huaqing Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd. has entered the critical construction phase for its 40,000-ton/year ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) facility. The company recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of a 100-day construction sprint at the project site.

The ceremony highlighted several key achievements, including the successful installation of the facility’s heaviest component – an 18-meter-long steam tube dryer weighing 65 tons. This crucial piece of equipment was carefully positioned on July 7, representing a major milestone for the engineering team.

Company President Wang Jian presided over the event, where Chengzhi Huaqing signed performance agreements with eight construction partners, including SINOPEC Shanghai Engineering Company and China National Chemical Engineering No.13 Construction Co. All participating firms pledged to meet the October 30 completion target while maintaining the highest quality standards.

UHMWPE, known for its exceptional strength and durability, has become increasingly vital for specialized applications ranging from ballistic protection to offshore engineering. The Qingdao facility will significantly enhance domestic production capacity for this premium engineering plastic.

Industry analysts note that Chengzhi Huaqing’s project demonstrates China’s growing capabilities in advanced polyolefin materials. The company’s “Quality & Speed” initiative has set new benchmarks for complex chemical plant construction, with the project expected to provide high-performance material solutions for various industrial sectors upon completion.
