June 20, 2025 – Turkey Launches Second Sunset Review on Nylon Yarn Imports, Raising Trade Concerns
The Turkish Ministry of Trade has initiated a second sunset review investigation on imported nylon (or other polyamide) yarns under Announcement No. 2025/5, effective June 19. The probe covers drawn textured yarn, fully drawn yarn, partially oriented polyester yarn, and other yarns made from nylon or polyamide.
This investigation stems from a petition filed by domestic producers seeking continued protection. Unless extended (for up to six months), a final determination is expected within nine months.

Industry analysts warn that an affirmative ruling could lead to extended safeguard measures, potentially including higher tariffs or import quotas. Such measures would significantly impact Chinese exporters, who dominate Turkey’s nylon yarn supply chain, by raising trade barriers and operational costs.
The review reflects growing global trade tensions in the synthetic fiber sector, with Turkey joining other nations in reassessing long-term import policies. Market participants are advised to monitor developments closely, as the outcome may reshape regional trade flows in the color masterbatch raw material sector.
