BASF to Launch Eco – friendly Composite Platform at CHINAPLAS 2025

April 8, 2025 – The chemical industry is on the verge of a grand event. From April 15 to 18, 2025, the CHINAPLAS 2025 International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition will be held with great fanfare. Notably, the Dispersions and Resins Business Unit of BASF will make its debut at this exhibition. During the event, BASF will focus on presenting the natural fiber composite technology platform based on Acrodur® (Angute) water – based adhesives, aiming to create exclusive sustainable development solutions for numerous industries.

Acrodur® adhesive, as a formaldehyde – free thermally cross – linkable acrylic water – based resin, has remarkable advantages. It not only features excellent bonding strength but also outstanding environmental – friendly properties. Its application scope is extensive, covering various fields such as automotive semi – structural parts, furniture panels, and lightweight sandwich panels, facilitating the development of composites with sustainability, cost – effectiveness, and lightweight characteristics.

According to AsiaMB, the fiber composites based on Acrodur® adhesive are basically on a par with common plastic solutions in the current market, such as PP plastics or ABS plastics, in terms of comprehensive usage costs. This characteristic makes the composites based on Acrodur® adhesive an economically viable option for manufacturers who hope to meet different market demands in furniture, home, automotive, and other sectors. It provides practical alternative solutions for users seeking more environmentally friendly materials.

Acrodur® adhesive performs extremely well in environmental protection. With its help, the recycled content in natural fiber composites can be increased to over 75%, while minimizing the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This undoubtedly reflects BASF’s firm determination to practice environmental protection concepts. In terms of performance, this innovative resin plays a crucial role in the fiber bonding process of composites, significantly enhancing the mechanical strength of the materials. Whether for natural fibers or synthetic fibers, Acrodur® adhesive can exhibit excellent bonding effects, ensuring that products are sturdy and durable and fully meet the high – standard requirements of multiple industries.

Andreas Fechtenkötter, Senior Vice President of BASF and Head of the Dispersions Business in Asia – Pacific, stated, “We are extremely honored to showcase the eco – innovative technology of natural fiber composites based on Acrodur® water – based adhesives at the CHINAPLAS 2025 International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition. This fully demonstrates BASF’s unwavering commitment to continuously propelling the chemical industry towards a sustainable and circular future.”
