February 15, 2025 – Invista Unveils Texas Technology Center, Bolstering Innovation and R&D Efforts
Invista, a global leader in the chemicals industry, has announced the grand opening of its Texas Technology Center (TTC) in Katy, Texas. With a total investment of $13 million and spanning nearly 40,000 square feet, the TTC stands as a pivotal component of Invista’s global technology hub and R&D network.
The TTC will bring together over 50 R&D, engineering, and advanced process control team members, who will focus on supporting the global technology needs of Invista’s nylon and propylene businesses, encompassing chemical intermediates and polymer product lines. Additionally, data scientists, along with members from Invista’s EHS, transformation, and project teams, will be based at the center, collectively driving forward the company’s technological innovation and growth.

According to industry insights from Color Masterbatch Industry Network, the TTC is equipped with cutting-edge analytical and experimental equipment, significantly accelerating the development cycle of Invista’s projects. Meanwhile, Invista continues to make strides in its nylon business. Last August, the expansion of its nylon 6,6 polymer production facility in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park was completed, boosting the total annual capacity of nylon 66 at the Shanghai site to 400,000 tons. Furthermore, Invista announced an investment of approximately CAD 23 million in its Meteghan, Canada plant to revive the hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) unit, with production expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
Notably, Invista’s business footprint in China is continuously expanding. As of 2023, the company has invested nearly RMB 14.5 billion in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, establishing an integrated nylon production base encompassing adiponitrile (ADN), HMDA, and nylon 66. Invista is also actively collaborating with local enterprises to leverage the synergies of localized ADN production, fully unlocking the market potential of nylon 66. For instance, the Haoyuan Group’s 400,000-ton annual nylon 66 project (phase one) has successfully commenced operations. Additionally, Invista has signed an agreement with Shanghai Jieda for the second phase of the nylon integration project, focusing on the resourceful upgrading and utilization of ADN and HMDA byproducts.
Moreover, Invista has achieved significant breakthroughs in sustainability. On February 10, 2025, the company announced the granting of a patent for a nylon recycling process. This process enhances the production of nylon 66 by providing more high-quality post-industrial recycled (PIR) raw materials, injecting new momentum into the sustainable development of the nylon industry.
