Successful Trial Production for ExxonMobil’s LLDPE Unit in Huizhou

February 8, 2025 – ExxonMobil’s Huizhou Ethylene Phase I project has announced exciting news, with Line 1 of its Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) unit successfully completing trial production and producing standard-compliant pellet products.

This landmark progress signals that other production units within the project will soon follow suit, gradually entering the trial production phase, laying a solid foundation for the full commissioning of the project.

According to AsiaMB’s sources, the ExxonMobil Huizhou Ethylene project, as one of the country’s major foreign-invested projects, is located in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Industrial Park in Huizhou and has attracted significant industry attention. The Phase I project includes a flexible feed steam cracking unit with an annual capacity of 1.6 million tons of ethylene, two high-performance LLDPE units with a combined annual capacity of 1.2 million tons, a world-scale single-unit LDPE unit with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons, and two differentiated high-performance polypropylene units with a combined annual capacity of 950,000 tons. The production of these high-end chemical products will extensively meet the needs of customers in various sectors, including packaging, automotive, industrial, consumer goods, and hygiene and personal care products.
