January 18, 2025 – Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company has announced exciting news with the successful commissioning of China’s first 500,000-ton/year bottle-grade chip plant utilizing polyester medium-viscosity process technology. This project adopts a domestically leading short-process production technology independently developed by Sinopec, highlighting China’s new achievements in technology and equipment in the non-fiber polyester field and marking a solid step forward in the technological upgrading of China’s polyester industry.

The successful launch of this plant is a crucial part of Yizheng Chemical Fiber’s Phase I project for 850,000-ton/year functional polyester new materials. The Phase I project encompasses a 230,000-ton/year intelligent staple fiber project, a flexible renovation project for 120,000 tons of PBT and 60,000 tons of PBxT, and the newly commissioned 500,000-ton/year next-generation bottle chip project. The successive completion of these projects enables Yizheng Chemical Fiber to produce 850,000 tons of functional polyester new materials annually, providing a solid material foundation for optimizing China’s polyester industry structure and promoting the high-end development of manufacturing.
According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Yizheng Chemical Fiber’s Phase I project is not only a major project in Jiangsu Province in 2023 but also plays a significant role in driving the output value of upstream and downstream industrial chains and meeting people’s new needs for clothing, food, housing, transportation, and health and environmental protection. It is expected that this project will boost the development of an industrial chain worth billions of yuan annually, injecting new vitality into the thriving polyester new material industry in China.
