October 16, 2024 – Jiangsu Jinghong New Material Technology Co., Ltd., located in Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, has recently received approval from the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission for the energy-saving review of its annual 55,000-ton polylactic acid (PLA) and equipment manufacturing project, with a second-phase construction scale of 50,000 tons.

Since its establishment in August 2001, Jiangsu Jinghong New Material Technology Co., Ltd. has specialized in the research, development, production, and sales of cutting-edge PETG new materials. Over two decades, the company has grown into a national high-tech enterprise with 450 employees and a registered capital of RMB 100 million. Leveraging its core technology in PETG polyester synthesis and shrink films, Jinghong has emerged as a leader in the niche market of PETG battery labels.
The second-phase project, situated in Suqian High-tech Industrial Development Zone, is planned with a total investment of RMB 490 million. According to AsiaMB, the project will add a construction area of 94,000 square meters, primarily for the construction of production workshops, PLA workshops, boiler rooms, and office buildings. Additionally, a series of advanced equipment, such as pelletizers, dryers, packaging machines, and vacuum units, will be introduced to establish PLA production lines. Upon full completion, the second-phase project will have an annual PLA production capacity of 50,000 tons.

It is worth mentioning that Jinghong’s first-phase project completed the construction of a 5,000-ton lactide plant by the end of 2023 and plans to commence commissioning of the 5,000-ton PLA plant in early 2024, with a trial run expected in mid-July 2024. According to a report by Suqian News on November 28, 2023, Jinghong’s core technology for L-lactide PLA products successfully broke the technological monopoly of foreign companies from the United States, the Netherlands, and other countries, significantly improving the conversion rate and purity of lactide, and filling the technical gap in China’s lactide and PLA production.
The main product of the project, PLA, is a new type of biodegradable material with characteristics such as complete biodegradability, biocompatibility, and zero emissions throughout its lifecycle. It plays a crucial role in reducing the use of fossil fuels, ensuring energy security, and providing strong support for promoting a comprehensive green transformation in economic and social development.
