October 09, 2024Wanhua Chemical Unveils Environmental Assessments for Two Major Projects
Wanhua Chemical has recently disclosed the environmental assessment notices for two significant projects: a 480,000-tonne-per-annum (TPA) expansion of its Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) facility and a 3,800-TPA project for the production of Musk Ketone.
The EDC expansion project, with a capacity of 480,000 TPA, is set to be located in the western industrial zone of Jiangyin Port City Economic Development Area, Fuqing City, Fuzhou, Fujian Province. EDC, or 1,2-dichloroethane, serves as a vital raw material in the production of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). Additionally, it finds applications in the manufacture of herbicides, pharmaceutical intermediates, and organic solvents. Its upstream production process primarily involves the addition reaction of ethylene and chlorine.
Meanwhile, the 3,800-TPA Musk Ketone project is planned for the Yantai Chemical Industry Park. This project entails the construction of a Musk Ketone production unit with a capacity of 3,800 TPA, complemented by corresponding utility and auxiliary facilities. According to sources from the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, the Musk Ketone products to be produced, such as IONION and AONAON, boast unique fragrances and are indispensable synthetic fragrances in flavor formulations. These fragrances have extensive applications in the fields of laundry care, perfumes, and flavorings.
