August 12, 2024 – Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is rapidly advancing the construction of its third propane dehydrogenation project with an annual output of 1 million tons, which is expected to be completed and delivered for acceptance in mid-September. Simultaneously, the company’s fourth polypropylene plant has entered the debugging phase. According to reports, both units are expected to be officially put into production before the end of this year. This significant progress indicates that Zhongjing Petrochemical is poised to become the world’s largest single-plant production base for propylene and polypropylene.
The Color Masterbatch Industry Network has learned that Zhongjing Petrochemical’s third propane dehydrogenation unit not only involves a huge investment scale of 4 billion yuan but also has the potential to achieve an annual output value of 10 billion yuan. This is expected to further drive the development of downstream industrial chains, bringing an annual output value of up to 20 billion yuan. The project has introduced top-tier propane dehydrogenation technology and patents from Lummus Technology, which will provide high-quality, high-purity propylene raw materials for Zhongjing Petrochemical’s polypropylene plant, thereby further improving the company’s internal industrial chain circulation.
In addition, the unit will produce 50,000 tons of hydrogen by-products annually. These by-products will provide important raw materials for Zhongjing Petrochemical’s C4 industry, strongly supporting the company’s green development strategy and promoting the further growth of the C4 industrial chain.
Weng Shengjin, Chairman of the Zhongjing Petrochemical Board, stated that with the commissioning of these two new units, the company’s annual production of propylene and polypropylene will reach astonishing levels of 2.8 million tons and 3.8 million tons, respectively. This will establish Zhongjing Petrochemical’s leading position in the global propylene and polypropylene production sector.
Currently, Zhongjing Petrochemical Science and Technology Park has gathered numerous global and national first sets of major chemical equipment, which not only highlights the company’s technical strength but also lays a solid foundation for the company to build a new “dual-carbon” industrial chain. Looking ahead, Zhongjing Petrochemical will continue to aim for the formation of a super-large chemical new material industry cluster with an annual output value of over 100 billion yuan, constantly moving forward and creating new brilliance.
