October 09, 2024Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical Pushes Forward Major Projects in Jiangyin Port City Economic and Technological Development Zone
Fujian Zhongjing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is accelerating the progress of its two major projects in Jiangyin Port City Economic and Technological Development Zone. The third propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit, with an annual capacity of 1 million tons, is expected to be handed over for inspection and acceptance in mid-September, while the fourth polypropylene (PP) plant has entered the debugging phase. Both units are anticipated to commence production by the end of the year. Upon completion, Zhongjing Petrochemical will ascend to become the world’s largest single-plant producer of propylene and polypropylene.
The third PDH unit of Zhongjing Petrochemical, which has an investment of 4 billion yuan, is projected to generate an annual output value of 10 billion yuan and drive the downstream industrial chain to achieve an annual output value of 20 billion yuan. This project has adopted advanced PDH technology from Lummus Technology, a leading US company, to supply high-quality propylene feedstock for Zhongjing Petrochemical’s PP plants, further enhancing the company’s internal circular economy industrial chain. According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, the unit is capable of producing 1 million tons of high-purity propylene and 50,000 tons of hydrogen by-product annually, providing valuable raw material support for Zhongjing Petrochemical’s C4 industry and promoting the company’s green development and the growth of the C4 industrial chain.
Chairman of the Board of Zhongjing Petrochemical, Weng Shengjin, stated that with the commissioning of the third PDH unit and the fourth PP plant, Zhongjing Petrochemical’s annual propylene production capacity will reach 2.8 million tons, and its annual PP production capacity will climb to 3.8 million tons, officially establishing it as the world’s largest single-plant producer of propylene and polypropylene.
To date, Zhongjing Petrochemical Science and Technology Park has gathered six global and seven national first-of-their-kind major chemical equipment, while fostering a new “dual carbon” industrial chain. Looking ahead, Zhongjing Petrochemical aims to create a grand cluster of specialty chemical new materials with an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan and continues to move forward. It is worth mentioning that on March 25th of this year, Zhongjing Petrochemical’s 1 million tons/year PDH phase II project, also located within the Zhongjing Petrochemical Science and Technology Park in Jiangyin, Fuqing, was successfully commissioned. With a total investment of 4 billion yuan, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of 10 billion yuan and drive the downstream industrial chain to achieve an annual output value of 20 billion yuan. It is currently the world’s largest single PDH unit for propylene production. Furthermore, Zhongjing Petrochemical (Fujian Meide Petrochemical) phase I 660,000 tons/year PDH unit was successfully commissioned in 2021, becoming the first PDH unit to be put into operation in Fujian Province.
