November 08, 2024 – Guangdong Yuanhui Eco-Fiber Transforms Waste Plastic Bottles into Valuable Polyester Staple Fibers
In Puning City, Guangdong Province, a remarkable transformation is taking place at Guangdong Yuanhui Eco-Fiber Co., Ltd. (Yuanhui Eco-Fiber). Within the company’s production facilities, discarded plastic bottles undergo a meticulous process of sorting, high-temperature flotation, shredding, drying, extrusion melting, spinning, and winding, ultimately emerging as eco-friendly and practical recycled plastic products – polyester staple fibers.

Since its establishment in 1996, Yuanhui Eco-Fiber has grown into a sprawling enterprise occupying 150,000 square meters and boasting an investment exceeding RMB 200 million. With an annual output now reaching RMB 1 billion, the company faced the challenge of meeting ever-increasing quality demands using traditional chemical fiber equipment and processes. In response, Yuanhui Eco-Fiber made a bold investment, introducing advanced technologies from “Toyobo, Japan” and “Zimmer, Germany,” while equipping itself with top-notch machinery from “Neumag, Germany,” “Hengtian Heavy Industry, China,” and “Shanghai No.2 Textile Machinery.” Additionally, the company has attracted seasoned engineers in chemical fiber processes and equipment from large state-owned enterprises such as Yizheng Chemical Fiber and Longda Group. Leveraging these formidable capabilities, Yuanhui Eco-Fiber successfully developed “bright 1.2D” fibers for sewing threads and “high-strength, low-elongation 1.4D” fibers for yarn, which passed the rigorous tests of the “National Textile and Apparel Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center,” positioning the company at the forefront of the industry.
According to AsiaMB’s industry insights, Yuanhui Eco-Fiber is also the first domestic enterprise to adopt a special process for converting recycled polyester bottle flakes into fibers specifically for sewing threads. The company specializes in the resource recovery and reuse of PET waste plastics, with every ton of recycled plastic products yielding nearly 0.95 tons of polyester staple fibers. These fibers find widespread application not only in textile and apparel industries, such as spinning, yarn making, and filling, but also in nonwoven sectors, and have recently played crucial roles in medical and engineering fields.
Ma Juncai, Deputy General Manager of Yuanhui Eco-Fiber, emphasized, “Through resource recovery and reprocessing, waste plastics are no longer a headache-inducing environmental pollutant but have become the ‘golden thread’ driving industry innovation and green development. Recycling one ton of waste plastics can reduce the consumption of six tons of oil, the emission of 18 tons of carbon dioxide, and effectively save nearly three cubic meters of landfill space.” This innovative initiative not only turns waste plastics into valuable resources but also contributes to the cause of environmental protection.
