UIF Pioneers Innovative Technologies in Polyester Production

December 26, 2024 – Global Chemical Giant UIF Showcases Excellence in Polyester with Innovative Technologies

Uhde Inventa-Fischer (UIF), a century-old provider of polymerization equipment, has once again demonstrated its outstanding capabilities in the polyester sector. Renowned worldwide for its proprietary patents in polyester and polyamide production processes and equipment development, UIF has played a pivotal role in establishing hundreds of polymer factories across China.

Beyond offering chemical plant design, reactors, and specialized process equipment, UIF is deeply committed to sustainable development technologies and the research of carbon-reducing polymer materials. In the polyester field, UIF stands at the international forefront, mastering polymerization technologies for biodegradable materials as well as chemical recycling techniques for PET polyester.

According to Color Masterbatch Industry News, UIF’s semi-chemical process for bottle-grade PET production, known as FTR Plus® technology, has attracted significant attention. This innovative technology seamlessly integrates UIF’s proprietary FTR PET recycling process into the “virgin PET” production process, resulting in final products that are not only BPA-free but also of exceptional quality. Remarkably, the FTR system can utilize up to 50% recycled material without compromising product quality, achieving the dual goals of efficient recycling and quality assurance.

In 2024, UIF successfully commissioned a PET chemical recycling line utilizing FTR Plus® technology at Alpek’s (formerly Octal) factory in Oman, marking a solid step forward in the realm of chemical recycling. Even more exciting is UIF’s recent signing of a project for a 100% chemical rPET polymerization line, currently in the design phase. Targeting bottle-grade applications, this project is expected to come online by the end of 2026. This move undoubtedly represents a significant step by UIF towards a closed-loop, bottle-to-bottle recycling process using 100% chemical recycling, injecting new vitality into the global recycling and sustainable development of PET materials.
