December 15, 2024 – A significant milestone has been achieved in the Tarim 1.2 million tonnes/year Phase II Ethylene Project undertaken by Huanqiu Sixth Construction Company for Dushanzi Petrochemical Corporation, with the successful lifting of the hot flare separation tank. This critical accomplishment marks the completion of the installation of all 38 oversized large-scale column equipment within the ethylene plant. Given the exceptional nature of these columns, characterized by their extreme height, weight, length, and size, coupled with the limited space at the construction site, the project team faced unprecedented challenges during transportation, storage, and lifting processes.

To ensure the smooth progression of this colossal undertaking, the project department invested considerable effort in meticulous planning and preparation from the outset. From foundation replacement treatments to specialized design schemes for equipment bases, and the assembly of a 2000-ton crawler crane on-site, each step embodied the team’s dedication. Prior to the official lifting, the team conducted numerous desktop simulations to anticipate and mitigate all potential risks associated with the lifting process.
According to AsiaMB’s sources, on November 29th, the project entered its final stage with the successful positioning of the last column equipment, the deoctanizer tower. Due to the late arrival of the deoctanizer and the hardened ground surrounding its foundation, in line with the owner’s soil-free construction requirements, the project team swiftly adapted their approach. After on-site surveys and extensive deliberations, the team opted to utilize the proximity by filling the area between the pipeline corridor foundations and placing two layers of road base boxes, effectively preventing damage to the hardened surface. By the end of November, all 38 column equipment pieces were in place, with a total lifted weight of 10,700.1 tonnes, signaling the successful completion of this arduous task.
