May 21, 2025 – Royce Universal Ltd., a leading player in Thailand’s plastics industry, is spearheading circular economy initiatives by transforming post-consumer PET materials into high-quality food-contact-safe packaging solutions through advanced recycling technologies.

The company demonstrates robust recycling capabilities, processing approximately 15,000 tons of post-consumer PET annually. Beyond producing rPET thermoforming sheets from cleaned PET flakes, Royce has launched its certified “PetaRoyce” brand of food-grade recycled PET pellets. Notably, in 2023, the company invested in a Starlinger PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line in Nakhon Pathom province, capable of converting cleaned PET flakes into food-and-beverage-grade rPET pellets at a rate of 1,800 kilograms per hour. Starlinger’s recycling process, renowned for its superior decontamination capabilities, is approved by international brand owners and regulatory bodies like the U.S. FDA and the European EFSA, ensuring product sustainability and food safety.
According to insights from the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Royce Universal not only uses these high-quality rPET pellets in its own production but also supplies them to leading mineral water and soft drink brands in Thailand, the U.S., Australia, and Japan. Touchawatt Techamongkoljit, CEO of Royce, emphasizes the company’s collaborative efforts to advance the circular economy, with plans to expand operations by recycling post-consumer PET bottles collected in southern Thailand and integrating its rPET pellets into direct food-contact packaging production.
Touchawatt further revealed Royce’s intention to develop a traceability system using blockchain technology to meet green washing standards and implement Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This initiative aims to support the broader adoption of sustainable recycled materials across applications, including food and beverage packaging, cosmetics, and household appliances.
Royce Universal’s success stems from its strategically diversified business model. Starting with the production, import, and distribution of decorative lighting fixtures, the company expanded into manufacturing plastic furniture and household items before pivoting to produce plastic thermoforming sheets, roof panels, and rPET recycled pellets. Through these evolutions, Royce has established itself as a sustainability benchmark in the plastics industry.
