March 11, 2025 – In the Dahu Town Smart Small and Micro Enterprise Cluster Zone in Ningbo, Huanting Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. is spearheading an innovation in material science and environmental protection. Despite being established for less than two years, the company has already made waves in overseas markets including Canada, Australia, and Germany with its unique biodegradable straws, and expects sales of related products to surpass the 500-ton mark this year.

Stepping into Huanting’s production workshop, one is greeted by a bustling composite material production line. From raw material input to the output of biodegradable masterbatch, the entire process takes mere minutes. These masterbatches are then packaged and shipped overseas, where they are processed into eco-friendly disposable products such as straws and food containers.
On the third floor of the company’s premises, the showroom is a treasure trove of samples, showcasing Huanting’s diverse product portfolio, including frisbees, electric toothbrush casings, and eco-friendly cutlery. According to industry insights from Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Huanting’s core technology lies in its proprietary PFP material, a compound of recycled plant fibers and fully biodegradable composite masterbatch. This technology utilizes agricultural waste such as straw, corn cobs, and sugarcane bagasse, efficiently extracts cellulose, and through purification and formula design, produces a powder that can be added in large quantities to biodegradable materials.
Dr. Zhang Yirong, Executive Director of Huanting Technology, explains using the example of straws, “Our PFP technology can reduce or replace the use of traditional polylactic acid straws, offering the significant advantages of easier degradation, lower cost, and higher efficiency.” With the global rise in environmental awareness and the increasing prominence of carbon rights issues, the demand for eco-friendly products continues to grow. Dr. Zhang notes that the biodegradable materials industry is in a rapid development phase, with enormous potential.
Following the establishment of a subsidiary in Canada, Huanting Technology plans to open a second subsidiary in Germany this year, further expanding the production and sales of PFP materials and their application products, while also supporting the upgrading and transformation of related industries in China.
The journey from laboratory to industrialization has been a five-year endeavor for Dr. Zhang and his team. In November 2023, Huanting Technology officially commenced production and swiftly developed the industry’s first 100% bio-based POP adhesive. This novel marine biodegradable material can decompose within 60 days in the ocean. Dr. Zhang highlights that this adhesive has broad application prospects in the home decoration and automotive industries, effectively reducing the harm of harmful substances in enclosed environments.
Currently, Huanting Technology has secured a patent portfolio, with six authorized patents and six more in the application process. The company has already signed contracts worth 10 million yuan, and with full production capacity, it anticipates reaching a value of 30 million yuan.
