March 11, 2025 – Donghong Corporation (603856) has recently announced that it has successfully obtained an invention patent authorization titled “A Pressure-Induced Resistive Carbon Nanotube-Modified Polyolefin Pipe Material and Its Preparation Method,” with the authorization date of March 7, 2025. The patent elaborates on an innovative formula for carbon nanotube-modified polyolefin pipe material. The raw material composition includes carbon nanotube masterbatch, polyolefin matrix, conductive carbon black, and functional additives, with specific proportions meticulously designed to ensure the material’s exceptional performance.

Notably, the carbon nanotube masterbatch comprises carbon nanotubes, polyolefin matrix, propylene-based elastomer toughening agent, polar monomer maleic anhydride monoester, and organic peroxide initiator, among other components. Through scientific proportioning, a significant enhancement in material properties has been achieved. According to AsiaMB’s understanding, this invention utilizes carbon nanotubes and nano-conductive carbon black as conductive agents and incorporates maleic anhydride-grafted elastomer toughening agents, effectively addressing the brittleness issue commonly found in traditional carbon fiber-reinforced polyethylene materials.
Moreover, the invention adopts a three-layer co-extrusion production process, placing the carbon nanotube-modified polyolefin pipe material in the middle layer of the composite pipe. This approach avoids the adverse impact of conductive fillers on the composite pipe’s pressure-bearing capacity, thereby improving the overall performance of the pipe.
It is worth mentioning that Donghong Corporation has obtained four new patent authorizations this year, representing a 20% decrease compared to the same period last year. However, the company’s investment in research and development remains steady. Financial data from the company’s 2024 mid-year report indicates that it invested 38.2663 million yuan in R&D during the first half of 2024, slightly less than the previous year but still highlighting the company’s emphasis on technological innovation.
