January 18, 2025 – Kunming Pengcheng Kicks Off E-Waste Recycling Project, Boosting Dongchuan’s Recycling Industry
The e-waste dismantling and recycling project of Kunming Pengcheng Recycled Resources Recovery Co., Ltd. has successfully commenced trial operations in the Sifangdi area of Dongchuan Industrial Park, infusing new vitality into Dongchuan’s recycled resources industry. With an estimated annual output value of RMB 150 million and an annual processing capacity of 800,000 units of waste electrical and electronic products, the project is expected to recover 33,000 tonnes of plastic, 11,300 tonnes of non-ferrous metals, and 4,600 tonnes of iron-containing items annually upon reaching full capacity, marking a significant achievement.

The company’s leader has pledged to actively respond to the call of the Dongchuan District Party Committee and Government by implementing refined management of the first-phase dismantling project to ensure effective recycling. Simultaneously, they will accelerate the construction of the second-phase rare and precious metal recycling project, contributing further to the development of Dongchuan’s recycled resources industry.
AsiaMB has learned that Dongchuan Industrial Park has achieved remarkable results in the development of its recycled resources industry in recent years. Adhering to the development principles of “chain linkage, clustering, and scale expansion,” the park has continuously improved its industrial chain and focused on building “five major industrial clusters,” with the recycled resources processing industry occupying an important position. Relying on the policy advantages of being a national industrial resource comprehensive utilization base and a key city for the national waste material recycling system, the park has innovatively adopted a linkage development model of “individual raw material suppliers + platform companies + processing enterprises” to promote the standardized, clustered, and green development of the recycled resources industry.
Guided by this model, the park has intensified efforts to recycle waste home appliances, electronic products, end-of-life vehicles, and used batteries. This has not only effectively reduced environmental pollution but also realized the circular utilization of resources, striving to create a “urban mining” demonstration base. Currently, there are numerous similar projects in the park, with a considerable amount of waste “four machines and one brain” (televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and computers) and small home appliances collected and processed annually. After recycling and processing, these waste resources are widely used in steel manufacturing, copper and aluminum smelting, plastic products, and other fields, truly transforming waste into treasure.
With the trial operations of Kunming Pengcheng’s project and the advancement of various initiatives in the park, the prospects for Dongchuan’s recycled resources industry are bright. By 2025, Dongchuan Industrial Park strives to achieve an output value of RMB 63 billion for its “five major industrial clusters,” with no fewer than 10 above-scale enterprises in the recycled resources sector and an output value exceeding RMB 10 billion. It is believed that with the joint efforts of all parties, Dongchuan Industrial Park will gradually become an important recycled resources processing base nationwide, making greater contributions to resource recycling and sustainable development. It will also provide useful references for industrial development in other regions.
