PET Recycling Shines Amid Market Shifts: EREMA Highlights Steady Demand for Food-Grade Recycled Plastics

June 5, 2025 – As global economic volatility intensifies, Austrian plastic recycling technology giant EREMA Group continues to lead industry advancement through technological innovation. Despite market pressures, the company’s latest financial report reveals its global recycling systems processed over 26 million tons of materials annually, underscoring robust industrial resilience.

In the realm of recycled materials, the PET recycling market has shone particularly brightly. According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, while investment in the polyolefin recycling market has contracted, demand for food-grade recycled PET has sustained steady growth—particularly in the bottled beverage sector, where demand for high-quality recycled pellets continues to rise. EREMA technical experts note this reflects a profound shift in the plastic industry chain driven by circular economy principles.

Technologically, EREMA recently launched its “Edvanced Recycling” strategic brand, centered on upgrading intelligent recycling systems. The TwinPro twin-screw system and AGGLOREMA chemical recycling equipment, set to debut at K 2025, address processing challenges for film waste and heavily contaminated materials, respectively—marking a synergistic breakthrough in mechanical and chemical recycling technologies.

The group has also made significant strides in textile waste recycling, with its UK subsidiary’s first commercial textile recycling line now operational. Meanwhile, a €145 million five-year investment plan is ongoing to strengthen supply chains, including building in-house production capabilities for critical components. EREMA’s CEO emphasized that enhancing recycling technology is essential to achieving sustainability amid growing plastic consumption.
