Omya China and Xixia County Seal Deal on Calcium Carbonate Production

September 05, 2024 – On August 29th, Shanghai hosted the “Nanyang Xixia Yangtze River Delta Investment Promotion and Project Signing Conference,” where four significant projects, including a 3 million ton annual production of calcium carbonate powder and its downstream industrial chain, successfully signed cooperation agreements.

During the signing ceremony, Omya China and the Xixia County Government of Nanyang City, Henan Province, reached a framework agreement on local mine integration, the construction of a heavy calcium carbonate production base, and the development of downstream industrial chains. This collaboration marks a further expansion of the Omya Group in the Chinese market.

According to AsiaMB, Omya Group, as a leading global producer of industrial minerals, has always adhered to the concept of sustainable development and actively sought high-quality cooperation opportunities worldwide. Dr. Qu Jianqiang, President of Omya Group China, emphasized that this cooperation with Xixia County not only represents a significant advancement in Omya China’s business but also reflects the group’s strategic intention to deepen its roots in the Chinese market.

The Party Secretary of Xixia County, Ma Jun, also has high hopes for this collaboration. He believes it will strongly promote the efficient utilization of mining resources in Xixia County and facilitate local industrial upgrading. Xixia County is rich in calcium carbonate mine resources, with large reserves, high whiteness, and purity, making it ideal for manufacturing calcium carbonate powder. Additionally, Xixia County is located in the Central Plains, with a geographical advantage. It covers a population of over 200 million within a 500-kilometer radius, providing huge consumption potential for calcium carbonate-related industries.

Omya’s subsidiary, Xixia Jufeng Powder New Material Co., Ltd., located in Sangping Town, Xixia County, has invested 200 million yuan since its establishment in 2014. The company focuses on processing and selling new powder materials and marble-related products. The newly signed project will further expand its production scale, improve product variety and quality to meet the growing market demand.

Since its establishment in Switzerland in 1884, Omya has developed into a leader in the global industrial mineral field. Its products are widely used in various industries, including construction, papermaking, polymers, food, and personal care. Since entering the Chinese market in 1997, Omya has been committed to providing high-quality products and services to Chinese customers, promoting the continuous development of the industry through continuous innovation and cooperation.
