March 24, 2025 – In the waste material recycling and processing industrial park located in Halayugong Town, Korla City, Xinjiang, the Korla Renewable Resource Recycling Project is making steady progress. Some of the factory buildings have already been put into operation, and staff are meticulously sorting recycled materials. As the core area of the project, this industrial park (photographed by Ayizuohere Ayupu) plays a crucial role in the recycling and meticulous sorting of waste items, which will then be sent to downstream processing enterprises within the park for further treatment.

The park has planned 26 storage yards along with a series of supporting facilities, and is subdivided into seven functional areas, comprehensively covering multiple recycling and processing fields such as waste plastics, waste textiles and paper, scrapped motor vehicles and tires, as well as waste electrical and electronic products. According to information gathered by AsiaMB, Li Yunfei, the person in charge of Zhonghuan Huike (Xinjiang) Resource Recycling Utilization Co., Ltd., revealed that the project, with a planned total investment of 35 million yuan, has successfully completed 50% of the engineering volume since its inception in March 2024. Additionally, over 150 smart recycling cabinets have been deployed in Korla City, covering 142 residential communities.
Upon completion, the project is expected to handle more than 50 tons of recyclables per day, significantly improving Korla City’s resource recycling rate and enhancing residents’ environmental awareness. Currently, the project has already addressed the issue of nearby villagers’ employment, providing more than 100 jobs, and is expected to create 500 employment opportunities once fully completed. The smart recycling cabinets support the recycling of various waste materials including paper, plastic bottles, metal cans, and electronic waste. Through a transparent pricing mechanism and an integral system, residents can directly withdraw their accumulated points to their WeChat wallets, making the recycling process more efficient, convenient, and fair.
Korla City is committed to normalizing its waste recycling business, promoting the recycling and sustainable utilization of resources, and striving to build a multi-level, three-dimensional, and highly efficient resource recycling and reuse system. By effectively integrating waste resources, the city aims to achieve a win-win situation for both economic and social benefits in renewable resource recycling and utilization, maximizing resource utilization, minimizing environmental pollution, and injecting new vitality into Korla City’s green, circular, and high-quality development.
