March 16, 2025 – Groundbreaking PPO Foam Extrusion Technology Passes Expert Evaluation
A joint effort by the China National Light Industry Council and the China Plastics Processing Industry Association has led to exciting news in the field of engineering plastics. The “Core Technology for Industrial Production of Supercritical Continuous Extrusion Foamed Polyphenylene Oxide (PPO) Sheets,” co-developed by Shanghai Green Feather Energy-saving Technology Co., Ltd. (Green Feather), Beijing Technology and Business University, and SABIC (China) Research and Development Co., Ltd., has successfully passed an expert evaluation, marking another technological leap for China’s engineering plastics industry.

The evaluation panel, chaired by Academician Jian Xigao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and vice-chaired by Wang Zhanjie, President of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, unanimously agreed that the project’s technology is internationally advanced, with the PPO continuous extrusion foaming process leading the globe.
On the day of the evaluation, experts conducted an on-site inspection of Green Feather’s customized continuous extrusion foaming production line, gaining a detailed understanding of the production process. Subsequently, the meeting heard reports on the project’s work progress, technical details, third-party testing results, user feedback, novelty search reports, and patent and academic paper situations. Relevant technical documents were also reviewed.
After inquiries and discussions, the evaluation panel reached a authoritative conclusion: the project’s data is complete, standardized, and meets the evaluation criteria; the technology is an original industrial technology with internationally advanced overall capabilities, broad application prospects, and significant social benefits.
It is understood that the project has applied for multiple patents and published professional technical papers. The production equipment and processes have been solidified, achieving high stability and high controllability in continuous production, completing engineering transformation, and possessing high-efficiency, low-cost large-scale industrial production capabilities. The birth of the world’s first high-performance extruded PPO foam material has filled a global gap in this field.
