Luxi Chemical Boosts Caprolactam and Nylon 6 Production with New Facility

September 04, 2024 – Luxi Chemical has recently announced the successful commissioning of the first phase of its 600,000-ton-per-year caprolactam and nylon 6 project, with the production of qualified products already underway. The project, which carries a planned investment of 3.3 billion yuan, encompasses a 300,000-ton-per-year caprolactam production line, a 300,000-ton-per-year nylon 6 production line, and supporting production facilities and utilities. This commissioning has elevated Luxi Chemical’s caprolactam and nylon 6 production capacity to 700,000 tons per year, further cementing its leading position in the chemical industry.

According to AsiaMB, Luxi Chemical unveiled this massive investment project in December 2020, aiming to expand its production scale of caprolactam and nylon 6. After several years of construction and preparation, the first phase has finally been successfully commissioned. Nylon 6, or polyamide-6, is a crucial engineering plastic widely used in various fields. To enhance its mechanical properties, modifiers such as glass fiber, EPDM, and SBR are often added. The commissioning of Luxi Chemical’s nylon 6 project is expected to meet the growing market demand.

Furthermore, with the continuous development of nylon 6 downstream sectors, China’s nylon 6 consumption is poised to maintain a growth trend in the future. The emerging demand will primarily revolve around civilian yarn, industrial yarn, engineering plastics, and other areas. By expanding its production capacity, Luxi Chemical will not only enhance its market competitiveness but also propel the development of China’s nylon 6 industry. In the next two years, China is set to add multiple new or expanded nylon 6 facilities, with a combined capacity of approximately 2 million tons per year. This will further fuel the vigorous development of China’s nylon 6 industry.
