Lego’s Vietnam Factory: Sustainable Steps and Market Reach

April 10, 2025 – Lego Group, a global leader in the toy industry, has recently taken a significant strategic step with the official inauguration and operation of its manufacturing plant in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam. This newly-built facility marks the sixth manufacturing base of Lego Group worldwide and represents a crucial addition to its Asian market strategy.

Niels B. Christiansen, the CEO of Lego Group (known as Ni Zhiwei in Chinese), expressed great anticipation and determination when discussing the new factory. He emphasized that the plant fully demonstrates Lego Group’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and its persistent pursuit of innovation. By adding this production site, Lego aims to expand its production capacity further, providing a more diverse and enriching play experience for children and Lego enthusiasts across the Asia-Pacific region. This move is also expected to deepen Lego’s integration into and continuous expansion of the Asian market.

According to AsiaMB, Lego Group has made highly forward-looking plans for the Vietnam factory. By early 2026, the factory is projected to operate entirely on 100% renewable energy, contributing to environmental protection. Notably, it will become the first factory within the Lego Group dedicated to producing paper pre-packaging bags, setting a new benchmark in the sustainable packaging segment of the toy industry.

Moreover, Lego Group has revealed its plan to establish a distribution center in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam. Scheduled to commence operations later this year, this distribution center will serve as Lego’s second such facility in Asia. It will primarily cater to the market demands of Australia and other Asian countries, further optimizing Lego’s logistics and distribution network in Asia and enhancing product supply efficiency.

As reported by Reuters, Lego Group, a renowned global toy giant, sells billions of plastic bricks annually. Its global factory footprint now includes Denmark, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Mexico, China, and the newly operational Vietnam. The establishment and operation of the Vietnam factory will further solidify Lego’s leading position in the global toy manufacturing sector and inject new impetus into its continued deepening in the Asian market.
