January 15, 2025 – Kingsley Biotech Leads the Way in Eco-Friendly Packaging Innovation
Kingsley Biotech, a globally renowned life sciences R&D and manufacturing service provider, announced on January 14, 2025, that it has made groundbreaking strides in enhancing life sciences services and optimizing product packaging. The company has successfully transitioned from plastic to 100% recyclable paper materials for its product packaging, with all box sleeves crafted from 100% recycled materials. By adopting a lightweight packaging strategy, Kingsley Biotech has reduced waste by an impressive 82% and cut annual carbon emissions by 5.14 tons, equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 257 trees in a year. This significant achievement underscores Kingsley Biotech’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and its strategic vision for sustainable development.

In the product packaging optimization project, Kingsley Biotech has implemented numerous innovative practices. The company has comprehensively upgraded its existing packaging, optimizing designs and simplifying structures. The new packaging eliminates traditional cushioning materials such as foam, relying solely on the thickness and structural strength of the paper itself to provide adequate support. While ensuring transportation and storage safety, the new packaging has successfully passed rigorous tests, including low-temperature transportation tests in China and the United States, demonstrating its reliability and safety.
According to AsiaMB’s understanding, Weihui Shao, the CEO of Kingsley Biotech, stated, “As a socially responsible company, we understand the importance of minimizing our environmental impact while growing our business. This product packaging optimization project is our concrete action in response to the global trends of circular economy and green development. Through innovative design and the application of green materials, Kingsley Biotech has not only enhanced the environmental performance of our packaging and reduced the carbon footprint of our products, but also improved the efficiency of our supply chain. In the future, we will continue to collaborate with partners to create a green supply chain, providing our global customers with higher-quality and more eco-friendly products and services.”
Notably, Kingsley Biotech’s new packaging utilizes eco-friendly water-based inks, significantly improving printing quality and further optimizing the appearance and quality of the packaging. The newly designed shipping boxes feature a folding function, drastically reducing space occupation during transportation. The new packaging aims to meet increasingly stringent global environmental and packaging regulations while helping customers achieve their environmental goals.
The supply chain leader at Kingsley Biotech explained that the new packaging design adheres to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards, following the fundamental principles of “reduce, reuse, recycle.” By adopting a reduction strategy to optimize design, Kingsley Biotech minimizes material usage, enhances recyclability, and lowers resource consumption and environmental pollution. The company is dedicated to providing more eco-friendly and sustainable products and services.
Currently, Kingsley Biotech has completed the upgrade of 80% of three frequently used shipping box types, with the remaining types soon to follow. After multiple rounds of testing and trials, the new packaging has received widespread praise from customers. In the future, Kingsley Biotech plans to continuously upgrade and improve all shipping boxes to meet customers’ dual demands for packaging eco-friendliness and practicality.
Long dedicated to advancing sustainable development practices, Kingsley Biotech officially joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2023, incorporating ten principles, including human rights, labor rights, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, into its strategic planning. In 2024, the company was awarded a bronze rating by EcoVadis, an international authoritative corporate sustainability assessment platform, for its notable performance in environmental protection and sustainable procurement. Additionally, Kingsley Biotech has joined the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), submitted its carbon reduction targets, conducted organizational carbon inventories and product carbon footprint verifications, and actively promoted energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects.
