May 27, 2025 – As China prepares to enforce a new regulation mandating that water – based interior wall paints listed in the mandatory 3C certification catalog must obtain the 3C mark and certification before entering the market starting July 1, 2025, global paint giant Jotun has announced a significant achievement in the Chinese market.
Since its establishment in 1926, Jotun has built its reputation on technological innovation. With robust manufacturing capabilities and a diverse product portfolio, the company has firmly established itself in the global paint industry. China, one of Jotun’s key markets, has always received top – tier attention. Currently, Jotun operates six subsidiaries, two production bases, seven offices, one research and development center, and one training center in China, ensuring a wide – reaching business presence.

According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Jotun’s production bases in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, and Qingdao, Shandong, underpin the brand’s quality with their efficient production lines, professional R&D teams, high – quality raw materials, and international – standard management systems. These facilities not only guarantee product excellence but also fuel the continuous growth of Jotun’s operations in China.
Recently, Jotun released its Q1 2025 financial report, revealing impressive year – on – year growth in both revenue and operating profit. Revenue increased by 6.4% to 8.571 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately 6.08 billion yuan), while operating profit rose by 3.9% to 1.89 billion Norwegian kroner (around 1.33 billion yuan).

The decorative paints division saw significant gains driven by increased sales of high – end products and an advantageous regional product mix. Geographically, all regions contributed to the sales uptick, with Northeast Asia standing out. Robust new shipbuilding activities in China and South Korea propelled the growth of marine paint sales, which accounted for 23% of total revenue, reaching 7.639 billion Norwegian kroner (about 5.42 billion yuan).
The successful acquisition of China’s national 3C certification for products manufactured at Jotun’s Zhangjiagang plant not only validates that its offerings meet China’s latest environmental and quality standards but also underscores the century – old company’s commitment to safeguarding the health of Chinese consumers in their homes.
