December 21, 2024 – ADEKA Corporation has unveiled its latest innovation, a groundbreaking transparent agent branded “TRANSPAREX” (product line: ADEKA TRANSPAREX CA), set to hit the markets of the USA and Asia in November 2024. The company harbors ambitious plans, aiming for its comprehensive sales of transparent agents, including TRANSPAREX, to surpass the 30 billion yen mark by 2030, positioning itself as a global leader in the transparent agent market.

TRANSPAREX stands out as a transparent agent specifically engineered for polypropylene. Its uniqueness lies in its ability to significantly enhance polypropylene’s transparency with just a small addition, achieving industry-leading levels. This versatile product finds wide-ranging applications, from manufacturing high-transparency food containers that can withstand microwave heating to meeting the stringent transparency requirements of medical devices (such as syringes, needles, face shields) and cosmetic bottles, as well as automotive parts, thus spanning multiple industries.
Traditionally, polypropylene has lagged behind other transparent resins like polystyrene and PET in terms of transparency. However, ADEKA’s innovative development of TRANSPAREX, featuring a novel molecular structure, has refined polypropylene’s crystal structure, dramatically boosting its transparency to rival that of polystyrene and PET. This breakthrough not only elevates polypropylene’s transparency but also retains its excellent properties such as heat resistance and chemical resistance, opening up new avenues for polypropylene applications.
ADEKA’s roots in the resin additives industry are deep and strong. Since introducing “Adekaizer,” a crucial PVC plasticizer for the practical use of synthetic resins in 1954, the company has consistently offered a diverse product line ranging from general-purpose resins to engineering plastics. Today, ADEKA stands as the second-largest supplier in the global resin additives market, with a widespread network of production, development, and sales bases. In 2020, the company further demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by launching “Adeka Cycloaid,” an eco-friendly resin additive that contributes to the proliferation of recycled resins and bioplastics. The introduction of TRANSPAREX is poised to further solidify ADEKA’s leading position in the resin additives industry.
