June 6, 2025 – Indian mattress brand Duroflex has unveiled a major environmental achievement: transforming 2 million discarded PET plastic bottles into premium mattress fabrics through innovative technology. This breakthrough provides a new paradigm for plastic waste recycling and highlights the company’s leadership in sustainable development.

To commemorate this milestone, Duroflex showcased a turtle sculpture made from recycled PET bottles at its Bangalore flagship store. The installation vividly illustrates the severity of marine plastic pollution while symbolizing the potential for waste to be reborn through technological innovation. The company’s CEO noted that with a global PET bottle recycling rate of less than 10%, the project aims to inspire more businesses to join environmental efforts.
Insights from the Color Masterbatch Industry Network reveal that Duroflex processes recycled PET bottles into specially engineered pressure-resistant fabrics for its signature “Energise” mattress series. Combining three-zone pressure distribution and patented QUBE Cell structure technology, the series achieves a seamless integration of eco-materials and sleep science. This “waste-to-value” model offers a replicable business case for circular economy development.
Against the backdrop of India’s “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) initiative, Duroflex has established a full-value chain from recycling to manufacturing at its advanced production base in Tamil Nadu. This practice not only addresses plastic pollution but also generates significant economic value, positioning it as a benchmark for green manufacturing in India.
