China’s Hualing Cable Advances Nuclear Power Technology with Breakthrough Wiring Solution

Shandong Hualing Cable Co., Ltd. has achieved a significant milestone in specialized cable development, with its newly designed nuclear-grade wiring for the “Hualong One” reactor system now entering third-party certification. This advancement marks crucial progress in China’s domestic nuclear material capabilities.

The radiation-resistant cables must maintain functionality for 60 years under extreme conditions—including loss-of-coolant accidents and seismic events—verified through rigorous testing protocols. “Material science defines our industry’s competitive edge,” stated Xing Lijiang, Chief Engineer, referencing the company’s 2013 collaboration with Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences that yielded breakthrough nylon modifiers. These innovations not only solved nuclear cable challenges but also enabled extreme-cold (-55°C) resistant cables for high-speed rail networks.

Hualing is simultaneously pushing boundaries in deep-sea applications through partnerships with China Ocean University. Developing mining cables capable of withstanding 3,000-meter depths while integrating power transmission, communications, and equipment lifting functions—a multi-disciplinary feat mastered by few global players.

The company’s parallel work with Weiqiao Group on aluminum-conductor technology aims to revolutionize copper substitution in heavy industries. As a nationally recognized “Manufacturing Champion Enterprise,” Hualing continues solidifying China’s position in mission-critical cable solutions.
