Enespa and PlastEco Team Up for Innovative Plastic Waste Management

February 8, 2025 – Enespa and PlastEco Forge New Path in Sustainable Plastic Waste Management

In a recent development, Enespa, a leading player in the field of chemical recycling based in Switzerland, has announced the acquisition of a 40% stake in the Finnish startup PlastEco. This strategic move aims to deepen collaboration between the two companies in the realm of sustainable plastic waste processing.

Enespa, with its roots deeply embedded in green technology, boasts a diverse portfolio that spans chemical plastic recycling, oil refining, and tire pyrolysis, among others. On the other hand, PlastEco, a nascent enterprise, specializes in the chemical recycling of plastic waste, leveraging its cutting-edge pyrolysis technology to convert plastic waste into reusable chemicals. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Enespa’s international strategy and accelerates its push towards a sustainable circular economy.

According to industry insights from Color Masterbatch Industry Network, the collaboration will harness the technological prowess and market resources of both entities. Enespa will bring to the table its expertise in constructing and operating chemical recycling plants, while PlastEco will tap into its local resources and market network to ensure a steady supply of raw materials and market distribution of products. The first joint project is already in the pipeline, with a chemical recycling plant capable of processing 5 tons of waste per day set to be delivered to Lahti, Finland, with an anticipated launch in April 2025.

Notably, the entire output of pyrolysis oil from this plant has been pre-sold, with buyers planning to increase their procurement as production scales up. This underscores the market’s voracious appetite and recognition for sustainable plastic waste processing technologies. Looking ahead, Enespa plans to support PlastEco by supplying additional plants annually and expanding capacity, jointly enhancing chemical recycling efficiency and boosting the conversion of plastic waste into reusable materials.

This alliance not only highlights Enespa’s unwavering commitment to sustainable waste solutions but also fosters innovation, reduces plastic dependency, and advances the principles of a circular economy. Together, the two companies are poised to make remarkable strides in the green technology sector in the near future.
