East China’s New Materials Hub Takes Shape: Rongsheng’s 30+ Unit Complex Enters Construction Phase

June 4, 2025 – A major milestone has been reached in the construction of Rongsheng New Materials (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd.’s Jin Tang Island chemical complex, as the first steel structure column for its 300,000-ton-per-year polyethylene oxide (PEO) unit was successfully hoisted. The event marks the official launch of the installation phase for the facility, highlighting progress in one of Zhoushan City’s key modern chemical projects.

The 2-ton steel column, lifted to a height of 16 meters using an 80-ton mobile crane, underwent precise positioning with real-time wind monitoring via laser rangefinders to ensure accuracy—a technique that enabled a first-time successful lift. The PEO unit’s total steel structure is expected to weigh 4,800 tons, reflecting the project’s scale and technical complexity.

With a total investment of 76 billion yuan, the Jin Tang New Materials project encompasses over 30 production units, including a 600,000-ton/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant and a 1,000,000-ton/year EVA complex, forming a full industrial chain from basic raw materials to high-end new materials. The project aims to become a pivotal new materials production base in East China, enhancing regional chemical industry chain integration.

“The successful hoisting of the PEO unit’s steel structure creates favorable conditions for subsequent equipment installation and accelerates the project’s overall timeline,” stated a project leader. Notably, the complex includes multiple environmental protection facilities, such as a 150,000-ton/year carbon dioxide recovery unit, underscoring the company’s commitment to green development alongside economic growth.

As construction progresses, the project is expected to deliver significant economic and social benefits to the local area, solidifying Zhoushan’s role in China’s new materials industry while demonstrating best practices in sustainable industrial development.
