May 28, 2025 – Pigeon Corporation recently announced that it will incorporate Solvay’s environmentally friendly and recyclable Duradex™ PPSU ECHO material into its high-end SofTouch™ baby bottle series. This move marks a significant step forward for Pigeon in the sustainable development of baby products.
Duradex™ PPSU ECHO, an innovative high-purity polyphenylsulfone material for food contact, incorporates 38% recycled materials in its production process and has passed the rigorous audit of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS system. According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, this material not only maintains the outstanding properties of sulfone-based polymers but also significantly reduces reliance on fossil resources, providing a low-carbon and eco-friendly alternative for the baby bottle industry.

Floryan De Campo, Vice President of Lifestyle Solutions in Solvay’s Specialty Polymers business unit, highly commended this collaboration. He emphasized, “Pigeon’s choice of Duradex™ PPSU ECHO material for manufacturing high-end baby bottles fully demonstrates the shared pursuit of sustainability between our two parties. This material can not only effectively reduce the product’s carbon footprint and drive decarbonization across the entire value chain but also offer a safer and healthier feeding experience for babies.”
With its natural amber-colored transparency and amorphous polymer characteristics, Duradex™ PPSU ECHO endows Pigeon baby bottles with excellent anti-sticking, anti-fouling, and scratch-resistant properties. Additionally, the material features excellent hydrolytic stability, shatter-resistant toughness, and heat resistance, enabling it to withstand high-temperature steam or hot water disinfection and dishwasher cleaning cycles, ensuring the durability and safety of the bottles.
Furthermore, Duradex™ PPSU ECHO does not absorb odors and is free from artificial pigments, phthalates, and bisphenols, creating a purer and healthier feeding environment for babies. Mitsuo Matsumoto, President of Pigeon Thailand Co., Ltd., stated, “The recyclability of this material is highly consistent with Pigeon’s brand philosophy. We will continue to deepen our commitment to the needs of the next generation and create a more caring and sustainable world for babies.”
Currently, Pigeon’s SofTouch™ high-end baby bottles made with Solvay’s Duradex™ PPSU ECHO material are setting to launch in the market. Solvay’s recycled polymer material is now globally available, presenting new sustainable development options for more baby product brands.
