September 14, 2024 – China National Chemical Corporation’s 14th Construction Company has secured a significant victory by winning the bid for the first phase of the Jinfeng Renewable Green Hydrogen-based 500,000-ton Green Methanol Project, led by the Southwest Research Institute of Chemical Industry. This initial phase entails the construction of a 250,000-ton green methanol facility. This project signifies the emergence of the world’s largest green methanol production base and marks the nation’s inaugural attempt to utilize large-scale wind power technology in green methanol production.

Nestled within the Hinggan League Economic and Technological Development Zone in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project’s primary focus lies in the development of core production lines, including biomass power generation facilities and green methanol synthesis facilities, alongside their auxiliary engineering works. As part of an overarching green methanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project with a planned capacity exceeding 20 million tons, it innovatively integrates wind-hydrogen-storage-biomass multi-energy synergistic coupling technology. This technology effectively enhances the utilization efficiency of intermittent energy sources such as large-scale wind power, successfully bridging the gap between renewable energy and green fuels. Consequently, it paves a new path for the expansion of hydrogen production from new energy sources into the chemical industry.
According to Color Masterbatch Industry News, this bid win not only recognizes the prowess of the 14th Construction Company but also underscores its commitment to the strategic deployment of the parent corporation in the new energy sector. This milestone achievement follows a series of successes in the field. Looking ahead, the 14th Construction Company will closely align with China National Chemical Corporation’s “135” development strategy, reinforcing overall synergy. It will persist in pursuing a dual approach in both strategic emerging industries and traditional sectors, striving to convert its technological and resource advantages into market competitiveness and project execution capabilities. This strategy aims to lay a solid foundation for achieving a higher quality of China National Chemical Corporation within the next five years.
