November 04, 2024 – Global packaging giant Amcor has recently released its fiscal year 2024 sustainability report, showcasing the company’s latest achievements and unwavering commitment to driving the green transformation of the packaging industry. Dedicated to designing more environmentally friendly packaging solutions, Amcor aims to meet the high standards of its customers while minimizing its environmental impact.

The report highlights Amcor’s significant progress in enhancing the recyclability of its packaging. The company notes that 95% of its rigid plastic packaging is now practically recyclable, and feasible recycling solutions have been provided for over 90% of its flexible packaging portfolio. As one of the core pillars of Amcor’s sustainability strategy, packaging recyclability is not only reflected in product design but also permeates the entire industry chain. By collaborating with various parties, Amcor is jointly advancing the construction of recycling infrastructure and engaging stakeholders to actively participate in building a circular economy where packaging materials can be reused.

According to the Color Masterbatch Industry Network, Amcor has achieved concrete results in promoting packaging recyclability. By the end of fiscal year 2024, the company had developed recyclable solutions for 94% of its flexible packaging portfolio (measured in square meters), fully demonstrating Amcor’s leading position and relentless efforts in the field of sustainable packaging.

Furthermore, the report elaborates on Amcor’s scientific targets for the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. Since the launch of its EnviroAction plan in 2008, the company has achieved remarkable results, successfully reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by 40% compared to the 2006 baseline by 2023. Looking ahead, Amcor will further focus on greenhouse gas emission reduction by adopting a series of key decarbonization initiatives. These include increasing the use of renewable electricity, optimizing the supply chain to reduce carbon emissions, enhancing the application of recycled materials in packaging, and redesigning products to improve their environmental performance. Simultaneously, the company will continuously enhance operational efficiency to ensure steady progress on the path of sustainable development.
