ALBA Expands Asian Footprint with New Recycling Facility in Indonesia

December 25, 2024 – ALBA Tridi Plastics Recycling Indonesia, a significant Asian footprint of the ALBA Group, is nearing completion in Kendal, Central Java, Indonesia. This state-of-the-art food-grade plastic recycling facility stands as a testament to ALBA’s commitment to advancing sustainable circular economy practices in Asia and marks a new milestone in the company’s journey.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this ambitious project was held in June 2023 at the Kendal Industrial Park. After months of rigorous construction, a modern, cutting-edge recycling plant has emerged on a 2.6-hectare greenfield site. The factory integrates advanced technologies from top Asian and European equipment manufacturers, coupled with ALBA’s deep technical expertise and extensive operational experience in plastic recycling.

According to AsiaMB’s Color Masterbatch Network, the new facility boasts impressive processing capabilities, capable of recycling up to 48,000 tons of discarded PET beverage bottles annually. These are transformed into approximately 36,000 tons of recycled PET flakes and food-grade PET pellets. These high-quality recycled materials will find wide application in the production of new consumer PET bottles, meeting both the domestic demands of Indonesia and reaching international markets, showcasing ALBA’s global reach.

The establishment of the ALBA Tridi plant in Indonesia not only expands ALBA’s Asian footprint but also exemplifies its vision of “creating a zero-waste world.” It contributes significantly to promoting low-carbon development in the Asian region.

Amid the rapid growth of the global recycled plastic market, ALBA is leveraging its professional prowess and services to become a trusted partner in the plastic recycling sector. Currently, ALBA boasts three plastic recycling facilities in Asia, strategically located in Yingtan, Jiangxi Province, China (ALBA Longyi New Material (Jiangxi) Co., Ltd.), Kendal, Central Java, Indonesia (PT ALBA Tridi Plastics Recycling Indonesia), and Hong Kong SAR (Plastic Renewal Limited), forming a robust regional presence and influence.
