Thyseed, a renowned brand specializing in baby feeding and nurturing products, has recently announced a significant upgrade to their baby bottles. These bottles are now crafted from BASF’s cutting-edge thermoplastic, Ultrason®. This high-performance material offers numerous benefits, particularly for bottles intended for babies and toddlers.

Approved for food contact, Ultrason® P 3010 polyphenylsulfone from BASF stands out due to its exceptional mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and ability to withstand superheated steam at 134°C. These attributes guarantee the safety and durability of the baby bottles, while also ensuring they remain lightweight and resistant to shattering. As a result, these bottles can effortlessly endure high temperatures in dishwashers and microwave ovens, allowing for repeated use without compromising their structural integrity or aesthetic appeal.
Furthermore, Thyseed and BASF have forged a strategic partnership to explore the potential of Ultrason® in other Thyseed products, both in China and beyond. “Thyseed is committed to providing the world’s best products, utilizing exquisite materials and processes, innovative designs, and exceptional services to safeguard babies as they enter the world,” stated Wang Hao, Brand Founder and CEO of Thyseed. “By incorporating BASF’s high-performance PPSU, our offerings will establish new benchmarks for safety and quality in the global market. Simultaneously, this collaboration will bolster Thyseed’s international expansion and enhance our competitive edge.”
The strategic partnership, formalized at a launch event in Shanghai on July 17, 2024, encompasses technical innovations and discussions on trends and sustainability topics such as reusability and high health standards. Mia Pettersson, Head of Global Specialty Polymers at BASF, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to further explore the significant baby feeding products market with a respected and innovative company like Thyseed. With our high-performance Ultrason®, Thyseed can create a diverse range of baby bottles and other infant care products in various designs, shapes, and colors.”
Ultrason® P 3010, a transparent, lightly honey-colored material, offers medium viscosity, superior toughness, and excellent stress crack resistance. It is ideal for injection stretch blow molding, a widely used manufacturing process for baby bottles in Asia. This material facilitates rapid production cycles and easy processing with appropriately configured hot runner systems, minimizing scrap losses.
In addition to baby bottles, Ultrason® also finds applications in drinking bottles. Ultrason® represents BASF’s range of polyethersulfone (Ultrason® E) and polysulfone products, renowned for their durability and performance in various industries.
